Finding the Balance between Intuition and Structure

In essence, this is the challenge I am trying to tackle in my artwork.

To those who know me, as a painter or otherwise, it is not a secret that these two components clearly constitute who I am:  a sharp analytical mind with a strong intuitive and emotional side.

This might explain why some of my works are more based on mental constructs and adhere to compositional guidelines whereas others basically result from intuitive processes which determine the specific nature of the work and express my deep emotional involvement in the subject.

My aesthetic home is and has always been abstract art. My work is strongly influenced by Abstract Expressionism and Color Field Painting but also by contemporary approaches to abstraction.
Whereas most of my works are non-figurative and non-objective, some are suggestive of objects and the human figure.

In fact, my paintings disclose the way I perceive my inner and outer world, both of which are interrelated anyway, and express my non-verbal attempt to respond to them.

These processes in their visual manifestation are often not easily identifiable for the viewer. Yet art - abstract and non-abstract - always communicates with the viewer one way or the other. This communication can fail or can be successful.

But art cannot not communicate.
